Press/Bio

Campfire Sigh…the name brings images of breezy backwoods travels, meditation in nature, or the mysteries that appear in contemplation on a smoky late night. Featuring the collective songwriting of Grant Prosser, Cody Valentonis and Nate Jacobucci, Campfire Sigh brings about nostalgia of an indeterminate origin to keep your musical compass spinning. Schooled by the sounds of 60’s and 70’s pop and psychedelia, the group stores complexity and meaning hidden in plain sight.

Who and What are Campfire sigh, you ask?

Campfire Sigh is the collective performance and songwriting of Grant Prosser, Nate Jacobucci and Cody Valentonis. The instrumentation is comprised of Grant on guitar and vocals, Nate on keyboards, guitar and vocals and Cody on bass and vocals.

Formed in 2016, the group set about recording an album on their own accord to capture 60’s psychedelic pop sounds that became their debut record Brother Sun.
The momentum generated from this album prompted many other recordings to be made in their studio space affectionately named “Gisht House”. From these subsequent sessions came a follow up album, Sister Moon and later two more EP’s, the jovial and upbeat Lemon Boy and the spooky narrative The Lonely Cannibals.

The group has played several establishments in Winnipeg with notable favorites being The Getaway Café and The Good Will Social Club.

In 2019, the band began to eschew the traditions of their sound, adding more experimental and progressive elements to the music. The decidedly strange selections they began to work on became a body of work known as Different Peninsulas (2022).

As 2023 came to a close, the band had a productive year of recording new and exciting material and increasing their live performance numbers higher than ever before! 2023 saw the release of retro inspired EP, Mother Brown & Other Assorted Chestnuts

Notable Performances

After the two year hiatus caused by the pandemic, the band performed to a vivacious crowd at The Good Will Social Club in Winnipeg, MB. This was the first time songs from their newest record were performed live. It featured an extended line up on stage and guest performers including Micah Braun from VVonder.

Campfire Sigh were headliners at the small but vivacious
Fox Frolic Festival, near Teulon, Manitoba in September 2023.
Their glorious harmonies coaxed dancing and cheer from all in attendance!

Campfire Sigh gives your ears a whole lot to pay attention to, but more crucially, earns that attention through their collectively innovative ways.

I can’t define their sound, and that is part of the magic…Somebody described them as “Prairie Beach Boys” with all of their incredible harmonies.
